If youโre like me, you love peanut butter and you would like to include it in your list of approved whole, unprocessed, preservative free foods.ย Unfortunately, it is extremely difficult to find natural peanut butter without shelling out a ton of cash and even then, the ingredient list includes more than just peanuts.ย Almost all of them include at least one of palm oil, cane sugar, sea salt, or allulose.ย The only two exceptions that I have found so far are Crazy Richardโs 100% All-Natural and Spread The Love NAKED Organic Peanut Butter which both cost $14.99 (on Amazon.com).ย Iโm about to make your day with the most simple and inexpensive recipe to make your own amazing, 100% natural, one ingredient peanut butter.ย ย
I purchase my nuts from Nuts.com, where I can always find bulk nuts for a very low price.ย For this recipe, I used one pound of Roasted Virginia Peanuts (Unsalted, No Shell) at a cost of $5.49 (as of April 2025). I use a Vitamix blender, but feel free to use any blender you like.ย I admit, it’s a bit expensive, but my Vitamix is the most powerful blender I’ve used.ย Itโs a total game changer for butters, frozen drinks, smoothies, and a whole host of other recipes.ย
Making the peanut butter is a simple as pouring a bag of peanuts into a blender and turning it on.ย I start at the lowest setting and then slowly work my way up to 8 while moving the blender tool around to ensure that the peanuts donโt get bunched up in one spot. Use a spatula to transfer every last drop of delicious peanut butter into a jar. One pound of nutsย will make enough peanut butter to fill a 16 oz Ball jar.ย
You should refrigerate the butter to maintain the quality, prevent oil separation, and prevent rancidity. It can typically last for 3-6 months. Remember that there are no preservatives in this natural peanut butter so it wonโt last forever.ย Even though we didn’t add any oil, you might still see some of the natural oil from the peanuts separate over time; this is totally fine, just stir it back in!
I hope you enjoy this recipe as much as I have, and feel free to make it your own by adding salt or using different nuts. I have used the exact same recipe with macadamia nuts, and itโs the most delicious nut butter youโll ever put in your mouth. Like peanuts, macadamia nuts contain enough of their own natural oil to forego needing to add any. Eat it up!

1 Lb Roasted Virginia Peanuts (Unsalted, No Shell)
Directions
- Open bag of peanuts
- Pour peanuts into blender
- Turn the blender on at the lowest setting and gradually work your way up to high (I went to an 8 using a Vitamix blender)
- Wait until the peanuts have transformed into a creamy peanut butter. If you like chunky butter, just stop the blender before all the peanuts have been completely creamed.
- Use a spatula to scoop the peanut butter into a container (I used a glass Ball jar with a regular lid). Store it in the refrigerator.
